Second Time Around

Have you ever watched a movie and enjoyed it so much that once was never going to be enough. You needed to watch it again, however the second time around it was somehow different, you noticed so much more, each scene took on a different meaning for you, you noticed way more than you did with the first viewing. Perhaps you even noticed an actor that you hadn’t realised was even in the movie on the first viewing or the location sparked something new for you.
Maybe its a favourite song or a piece of music. Have you ever noticed how when you listen to it how it sounds so different dependant on your mood. When you’re happy, you’re quite happy to sing or dance along not paying that much attention to the lyrics, yet find yourself in a more low or even depressed mind set and suddenly every word has sentimental meaning to you. You can relate every emotion and feeling in the lyrics to your situation, it can bring tears just thinking about it.
We find ourselves associating particular songs directly to events and times in our lives simply by the emotion we attache to them. The same song can mean something completely different from person to person yet its the same song. How is that possible ?
With that in mind, if we can re create emotions when we re-do movies and music, can we also re-create our own surroundings simply by revisiting?
If we take the time to open our eyes and heart to our surroundings from a new fresh perspective surely that too can look and feel very different to us.
We take so much for granted. We look without seeing and listen without hearing. When was the last time that you actually took time to be totally present in the moment, appreciated your surroundings , viewed your locality as though it were the first time you ever saw it? What do you see? What do you hear? How does it feel? Let yourself fall in love with the place you call home.
We are too consumed with our busy lifestyles, constantly rushing from one place to another, taking care of family, having meetings, checking social media, catching up on on email, and all the elements of life that prevent us from appreciating the life around us, and then we wonder why life is passing us by so quickly.
When we become present in the moment our gratitude for who we are and where we are grows, our new appreciation is so different the second time around.
