Team Formation

Business is changing, in today's day and age we think that we are in a new era, that everything is changing, our lives will never be the same, that somehow we are this new generation of trailblazers. However the reality is that life is always changing, we are no more special or unique than all the generations that came before us, the only difference is that this is our time.

Now is our moment to step forward and accept the change in our world, our community and even in our family lives. There have always been wars, epidemics, global changes, changes in world leaders, it is human nature to fear change. What makes us so special is our ability to move with the changes in life, to adapt and overcome the challenges.

Change is inevitable progress is optional - Tony Robbins

Change is an opportunity to begin something new, to take our old habits and create new processes. Change is not always an evil that is sent to destroy us, it can be a welcome chapter of new experiences. It can change our perspective of how we are currently living and open our eyes to new and exciting ideas.

Change in most cases brings fear to mind. We always run and hide from the unknown. Overthinking of all the reasons why change is a negative possibility. We have it all worked out and why it can 't possibly work, but we never stop to consider how the view from a different perspective could change everything - mindset is everything.

With that in mind, I had the thought about our working teams. No matter how big our small our business we all have a team to work with. How many teams work in perfect unison? How many team members tolerate one another rather than work together for the benefit of all concerned ? and more importantly are we accommodating the wrong member of the team?

When is it time to re evaluate our team goals? Do we ever take the time to acknowledge what is working and what is not? What steps should we take to overcome those challenges?

From my own personal experience, I always find that we are looking form the wrong angle to resolve team problems. When the same problem raises its head time and time again we have been working with new staff members to change their habits but what if it isn't their input that is the issue?

On reflection it is now time that we look at this from a new perspective, brighter lenses and new glasses so to speak. Look in from a completely new angle. Now is the time to re align our team to look at the bigger picture and the common cause of all of the challenges. Time to stop looking for flaws in new staff members and focus on those who have been with us longer.

Long term staff members often become comfortable. They feel that they are established within the workplace and that they create the working rules. the longer we permit this behavior the more deeply set their habits and expectations become.

If we want a team to be productive and work well together it is of the utmost importance that each team member realizes that they are a cog in a very big wheel, we are all moving parts and no one cog is more important than all of the others.

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. - project manager . com

Creating a team is only the beginning of any new venture, managing each person is a challenge, we all have individual identities and personalities, juggling them all and keeping them aligned with one another absolutely is progress. Only when we learn respect for one another, how to communicate with one another and how to appreciate the commitment of one another by working together can we collectively be successful.

The goal for every business owner and every team is to be successful.

Success is a journey not a destination. - Arthur Ashe
